The best pickleball birthday gifts match how much the person plays. For a new player: a first real paddle, outdoor balls and a hat. For someone who plays every week: the things they wear out (balls, grips), an upgrade they keep putting off (court shoes, sport glasses, a bag), or time on the court (a lesson or a court booking for their birthday game). Add one fun piece with a birthday line players get, like "Another Year Around the Post" ($19 mug, $27 tee). Below are 24 pickleball birthday gifts sorted by price, picks for milestone birthdays, and pickleball birthday party ideas: a court-shaped cake, a birthday round robin, decorations and favors.

How we picked
We are a small US shop that prints pickleball shirts, hats, mugs, tote bags and towels, so some gifts here are ours, marked with our prices and links. Most are from other brands. We did not test the gear; we chose things players use every week, with prices we saw on retailer pages in October 2026. Prices change. Sources are at the end.
Another Year Around the Post
"Around the post" is a pickleball shot: a ball hit around the side of the net post instead of over the net. It is legal, rare and a great moment when it happens. "Another Year Around the Post" turns it into a birthday line, a quieter joke than most birthday gifts, and it works for any age. It comes as the Another Year Around the Post Pickleball Mug, 11 oz, Birthday Gift ($19) and the Another Year Around the Post Pickleball T-Shirt, Birthday Gift ($27 in XS to XL, $29 to $33 in 2XL to 4XL). The tee is a soft cotton casual tee, not a sweat-wicking match shirt.

Pickleball birthday party ideas
Book the courts
The simplest pickleball party is a court booking and a cooler. Public indoor courts are often cheap; the Tualatin Hills Park and Recreation District in Oregon charged $16 an hour per court in fall 2026. Book two hours and one court per 4 to 8 players. Many pickleball clubs and pickleball restaurants also sell party packages with food, so call ahead and ask, and ask whether you can bring your own cake.
Run a birthday round robin
- Rotate partners every game so everyone plays with the birthday person once.
- Play games to 7 or 9 points instead of 11, so more people rotate in.
- The birthday person always serves first.
- Add one silly game: dinks only, or everyone plays with their other hand.
- Give a small prize for the most points, and one for the best "around the post" try.
Pickleball cake ideas
- A court-shaped sheet cake. A real court is 44 by 20 feet, about 2.2 times as long as it is wide, so cut a 9 x 13 inch sheet cake down to about 6 x 13 inches. Pipe white frosting lines for the sidelines and baselines, and draw the kitchen lines about 2 inches from the middle on each side (the kitchen is 7 feet deep on a 44 foot court). Use a strip of fondant, or a small piece of real netting from a craft store, as the net.
- Pickleball cupcakes. Yellow or green frosting with small dots of darker frosting for the holes. A standard outdoor ball has 40 holes, but nobody will count.
- Cake pops as pickleballs. They are already round.
- Paddle-shaped cookies. Use a rounded rectangle cutter and add a frosting handle.
- A pickle tray. It is called pickleball, so put out pickles, fried pickles or pickle dip. Our guide to why it is called pickleball has the real story for a party fact.
Decorations
My Mind's Eye sells a pickleball party line: a Pickleball Banner Set ($14.99), plates and napkins ($6.99 to $7.99 a pack) and paper cups ($5.99), as listed in October 2026. Add yellow and green balloons, and use a bucket of balls with a few paddles standing in it as a centerpiece.
Party favors
- One ball each. A 3-pack is about $10, so about $3.33 a guest.
- One overgrip each. A 3-pack is $5.59, under $2 a guest.
- Matching tees for the birthday group. Our Another Year Around the Post Pickleball T-Shirt, Birthday Gift is $27 each, so this works best for a small group, and you need everyone's size.

What not to buy
- A paddle they did not ask for. Regular players care about weight, grip and feel.
- Old-age jokes for a milestone birthday. A joke about their game lands better than one about their age.
- Clothes and shoes in a guessed size. Hats, mugs, towels and totes have no size.
- The wrong balls. Indoor and outdoor balls are not the same.
- A cheap paddle set for a serious player.
- A mug that is only a picture of a paddle. They have one.

Frequently asked questions
What is a good pickleball birthday gift?
For a new player: a first real paddle (about $90), outdoor balls and a hat. For a regular: balls, grips, court shoes, sport glasses, a bag, a lesson, or a birthday mug or tee like "Another Year Around the Post" ($19 to $27).
What is a good pickleball birthday gift under $25?
Overgrips ($5.59), a 3-pack of balls (about $10), pickleball socks ($12.99), a ball pickup tool ($14.95), an 11 oz birthday mug ($19), a ball holder ($23.99) or a pickleball charm necklace ($24.99).
How do you make a pickleball birthday cake?
Bake a sheet cake and cut it to about 6 x 13 inches, which matches the shape of a 44 x 20 foot court. Pipe white lines for the court, put the kitchen lines about 2 inches from the middle on each side, and add a fondant or netting strip for the net. Cupcakes with yellow frosting and dots for holes are an easier choice.
How do you plan a pickleball birthday party?
Book one court for every 4 to 8 players for two hours, run a round robin with rotating partners and short games, bring a cake and drinks, and give one ball or overgrip to each guest as a favor. Check the venue's rules about outside food.
What does "around the post" mean in pickleball?
It is a shot hit around the side of the net post instead of over the net. It is allowed, and it is rare, which is why "Another Year Around the Post" works as a birthday line.
Do you have a discount code?
No, there is no code on the blog. US shipping on our items is free.
