A good pickleball team name is short, easy to shout across a court, and built on something players already joke about: the kitchen, line calls, the score nobody remembers, skill ratings, and pickles. Below are 150 team names we wrote, sorted by type: funny names, kitchen puns, pickle puns, score and rating names, names for couples, for women's teams, for seniors, and for leagues and clubs. Each one has a few words on what it means or who it fits, so you can pick one your whole team gets.
How to pick a team name
- Say it out loud. It will be read by a league coordinator, called on a court assignment and typed into a bracket. If it is hard to say, it will get shortened to something you did not pick.
- Keep it to four words or fewer. Short names fit on brackets, scoreboards and the back of a shirt.
- Tease the game, not a person. A joke about line calls or ratings lands with every player. A joke about someone's age or body only works if that person picked it.
- Match the league. A pun works in a social league. A tournament team might want something plain.
- Check before you print. Some pickleball phrases are registered trademarks. A team name you use among friends is one thing, but if you plan to sell shirts with it, search the phrase on the US trademark register at tmsearch.uspto.gov first. We left out names that copy brands, TV shows, movies and bands for that reason.

Putting your team name on shirts
Once you have a name, a matching shirt or hat makes it official. Two tips: keep the name short enough to read from across a court (four or five words at most), and pick a light shirt color for outdoor play. If you would rather not print your own, our shop has pickleball jokes ready to go in Funny Pickleball Shirts ($27 tees) and Pickleball Hats ($32, embroidered).
